Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)
Behavioral therapy and cognitive therapy are strongly focused on the everyday reality of today: they primarily address difficulties in the here and now rather than problems from the past. In behavioral therapy, the client’s behavior is central. In cognitive therapy, great importance is placed on the influence of thinking on emotions and actions. In cognitive behavioral therapy, the emphasis may sometimes be more on thinking and at other times more on actions and behavior. With the help of the cognitive behavioral therapist, appropriate and suitable ways of thinking and acting are explored.
